48hr Collective Learning Experience a HUGE success

Following on the first 24-hour DIY SRGs programme in June 2015, the latest programme (over 48 hours on this occasion!) in March 2016 saw a cohort of 7 people getting to grips with WEvolution’s way or working alongside people in the communities. Participants grappled with the history of the SRG movement in Scotland, WEvolution’s journey as an organisation and more importantly, got into the nitty-gritty of ‘doing’ SRGs, picking up the skills around training and group support. When asked to articulate what the time together meant to them, two words that were shared to articulate the experience stood out above all: ‘liberated’ and ‘able’.

Liz Taylor Main an SRG Member and Development Worker for WEvolution  said “I had a good time meeting and sharing my personal story with the folk that attended our DIY SRG this year. I never tire of telling my story from the beginning of going out to India in 2011 to this present day being employed by WEvolution and working with so many lovely women throughout Glasgow, Paisley, Johnstone and Greenock. I could feel the excitement that the group were experiencing from being in this position myself many years ago. I am sure there will be many new Self-Reliant Groups appearing all over the country due to this event. The atmosphere in the room was buzzing, with very positive conversations taking place ”

If you missed out on the opportunity to attend this learning experience don’t worry we will sharing our model and journey again on the 12th – 14th of October 2016 – contact lorna@wevolution.org.uk for more information and to register your interest today.
